If you are looking to read some good Indian thriller novels by one writer, Vijay Medtia should be your first choice.

Vijay Medtia is a novelist and short story writer, based in the UK. He visits India regularly for his inspiration. In God’s Country, Karwar, is his fourth novel. His debut novel, The House of Subadar, was published by Arcadia Books, UK in 2007. It was short-listed for the Glenn Dimplex, Literary Prize, Dublin 2008.

He has had several short stories published in the UK and India. His recent short story, ‘Master Chef,’ was published by the Singapore based literary magazine Kitaab.org in July 2023.

His second novel, The Missing Husband, was published by Crocus Books, UK, 2019 and received good reviews. His third novel was The Lost Woman of Santacruz, published by Leadstart, India, 2021. Again, it received rave reviews from readers and the media. There is interest from a TV and film production house in India, to turn The Lost Woman of Santacruz into a film or a ten-part crime drama.

THE MISSING HUSBAND:

Mumbai PI Abhay Chauhan is hired by the Fernandez family. A brutal blackmail gang is giving elderly, multi-millionare, Joseph Fernandez, the squeeze. With Fernandez’s shrewd young wife and a wild, party-loving daughter causing mayhem in Mumbai, Chauhan has his work cut out. And that’s before he stumbles across the first corpse. The novel introduces PI Abhay Chauhan, who drives a dark blue Hindustan Contessa and carries a Glock semi-automatic. Laced with humour, the story is set in 1995 Mumbai.

THE LOST WOMAN OF SANTACRUZ:

The Lost Woman of Santacruz features the police inspector Ajay Shaktawat. The story kicks off with a murder of a retired DCP Chandra, living alone. Police inspector Ajay Shaktawat begins solving the case. As he grows restless and digs here and there, clues begin to unveil slowly. All things lead up to one woman but she is missing. Ajay Shaktawat has to find out as why someone will murder a silent, aloof, and retired police person?

IN GOD’S COUNTRY, KARWAR:

A captivating crime fiction tale that unfolds against the scenic backdrop of a coastal town Karwar, in India. The story revolves around Vinod Hegde, a man seeking redemption after a dark past, and inspector Rock, investigating a series of murders that plunge the town into fear and suspicion. Medtia skillfully weaves a narrative that combines elements of long-lost love, friendship, revenge and murder.
