A class is class. The title of the post must have you thrown into a loop. What class and what conversation? Wait…its a book that I read this month. Before I walk on the route further, let me tell you it’s a brilliant modern adaptation of Mahabharata. This epic is remembered basically for two aspects — first fierce battle, and secondly for the conversation between Lord Krishna and the archer Arjun.

5000 Years Back by Neetika Maheshwari Kasat — this is the novella. Soon after its short story part, it ascends on the teachings that are found in Bhagwad Gita, but this book shares some rare insights as well. In a nutshell, I learnt many unknown secrets from the holy Hindu scriptures and got a chance to revisit Bhagwad Gita in its most modern contemporary form.

Bhagwad Gita is based on 5000 years knowledge that conversed between Lord Krishna and Arjun. However, people might not know of Manu Era that was around 120 million years. What happened then? The creator or superpower first created Sun millions of years back. It was demigod Sun that spoke about knowledge that became prevalent for last 5000 years ago.

Another startling fact of life is that compassion doesn’t work during obligations or duty. Being compassionate towards others is a good virtue, however, Arjun was smitten by it just before the war. It was pulling him back, meant losing the war to Kauravs. Isn’t an eye-opener?

Are knowledge and action related? Yes. If one seeks knowledge, it means one gets deeper in it and thus can perform actions properly. Knowledge makes one understand their role amidst a gamut of situations.

People in the world fits in three modes: ignorance, goodness, and passion. Ignorant people worships ghosts or spirits. Good people worship their gods. And passionate people worship demigods or demons.

This is a useful book in learning life’s lessons in a light way. The second part of the book has 18 episodes (segments), which acts like knowledge pond. The book lays emphasis on knowledge oriented facts, thus, at many places it is referred as royal secret and hidden treasure. From universe to super energy to super human — the book has that is needed for self-learning and motivation to stay abreast in life.

Those 18 episodes are classic conversation set in modern-day world with Kris and Aarj. Before I close the preaching part, let me tell you a bit about the book.

5000 Years Back by Neetika Maheshwari Kasat is full of life lessons and other insights that are hardly known to masses. It’s a light modern retelling of Mahabharata, where the battlefields are turned to a boxing championship. Set in the contemporary times, this novel is nothing less than a classic take on our Hindu epic Mahabharata.

The author has redone some setting of the story with respect to Mahabharata. For instance, characters names are fancy and easy-to-pronounce, such as Yudi, Aarj, Duro, Kris, Nick, and Dave, etc.
