Medium is a great place to share your ideas with a pre-baked set of readers from all over the world. But there’s a catch. The partner program doesn’t really pay well anymore. This means, if all you do is write on Medium, for Medium, you’re also working for Medium for free.

As creative, you need an email list to insure your work against invisibility. It’s really hard to get a reader on Medium. And if you don’t have a way to capture that person’s contact information, you may never see that reader again.

Instead of starting from zero with each story you write, there’s a simple thing you can do to all your Medium content that will help you grow your email list, and also grow your creative practice.

  1. Target the people you serve and create content for them
  2. At the bottom of each Medium story, invite the reader to join your list (in exchange for a valuable gift)

When you target your readers with the right content, you’ll build an email list of the people you want to do business with.

Medium has already done all the work of gathering these readers in one place. All you have to do is raise your hand, provide stories worth reading, and make each piece…
