Imagine the last vacation you took…

You planned for weeks (or months) in advance. Maybe you made a packing list, did some research on local restaurants, the weather, and things to see while you visit.

You got excited, days and weeks before the vacation took place.

Now imagine your last big Amazon order…

You tracked the order to see when it would arrive at your house. Maybe you live in an area where you can actually track the truck, in real time, when it’s ten stops away from your house.

There’s a dopamine response. We get excited. If the thing we’re about to get in the mail is fun and interesting, we might feel like a kid on Christmas.

What do both of these examples have in common?

Anticipation.

Anticipation for your product is almost as important as delivery of the product itself. Anticipation is a valuable psychological component of your marketing that shouldn’t be ignored.

In short, if you can increase anticipation for your thing you’ll sell a lot more of your thing when it’s ready.
