The Booking Factory Winter Updates — Rate Plan Overhaul
We just launched one of the biggest ever updates and it’s HUGE! It’s all centered around rate plans, rates and restrictions.
We have had many issues with people who have complex multi occupancy rate plans, or complex seasonal pricing or both! Now we can handle it all in a really user friendly way
So what is in the update?
Bye Rate Wizard & Welcome Season Calendar
The rate wizard is something many are used to with the OTA extranet to quickly change the price on a certain date. The problem was that this was quick but wasn’t exactly user friendly.
What if you forgot what rates you changed and what you didn’t?
What if you wanted to see the rates for a period and modify slightly?
Introducing The Seasonal Rate Calendar
Now it is super simple to create a season on a calendar, call it something like “Peak Season” and enter the rates and restrictions for those dates.
As you can see from our animated image above… super simple to create and manage all your seasons :)
Multi Occupancy Rate Plans
Another major blocker we had when setting up customers was the multi occupancy rates they used to have! Take a look at one of our setup forms:
This customer has been waiting months while we built this feature to accommodate this style of pricing. Now we can handle those African Lodges and the Ski chalets that price depending on different adults and children.
Another great feature we can handle is both the extra per adult and child price but also the decrease. As you can see this is super cool if you have a large room plan that gets cheaper or more expensive depending on occupancy.
New Inventory Table
To cap off all the great changes we upgraded the inventory management table to show everything in one page, you can then filter out things you don’t want to see
This super powerful inventory table is meant for daily overrides, as longer periods of time is better done with seasonal calendar.
Features:
- Filter on Room Type, Rate Type & Restrictions (New)
- Shows (in green) any manual changes made to rate & restrictions
- Full logs for changes (new)
- Can modify restrictions on the rate level (New)
Final Words
All these changes were deeply chained and took us over 2 months to get right, we wanted this to be the last time we upgraded the inventory management system so made it more powerful than most of the bigger systems available today.
There’s a lot more fine tuning and customisations you can do with seasons and rate plans which I couldn’t cover in a small blog post.

Update Planned for Next Few Weeks
We have been also working hard on full localisation of our application to allow it to be used in different languages such as French, German, Thai etc.
We hope to release this by Xmas to allow users in different languages to also enjoy a modern cloud based PMS.

Part of this work also means we will allow full customisation of your email and invoice templates so you can modify and personalise for your property.
