Active shooter strikes again
Fear on screens ignites again
Active shooter takes out wrath
Destroying all who cross his path
In victims’ blood he takes a bath
Trauma is the aftermath

To them, our lives have no concern
Just guns and greed and what they earn
For hope and safety, many yearn
Another tragedy, but do we learn?
Land of the free? Not what I see
So many robbed of life and peace
So many brought down to their knees
To pray and ask, “How could this be?”

The politicians could care less
Their pockets profit from this mess
Some claim that they’re doing their best
While citizens are scared and stressed
In malls
In theatres
In grocery stores
How many killed? How many more?

In schools
In banks
In neighborhoods
Your “thoughts and prayers”
They do no good
When will they act?
When will it change?

Restrict the guns!
Help the insane!
Just stop the pain
When will it end?
Political stances have to bend
Humanity and life we must defend
At least make the schools safer for the children
To not ban assault rifles, an abominable sin
