Growth Mindset
Full shade
A dream is a fragile thing
it cannot survive
the burning heat
of the sun’s
radiant light
when you try and drag it
into the full bright of day
it sizzles and shrinks back
being made of dust bunnies
spider webs and heartstrings
they are flammable beyond compare
if just one beam hits it
before being fully realized
it could be damaged
exceeding all repair
searing off
evaporating into the
atmosphere
to rain back down to earth
watering people’s weeping
dreams in the overcast shadows
as they follow directions
shading and tending
taking better care
I may ramble fitfully
never fully falling
for to let go and meet the black
would mean to consecrate
a new dream
to start from the beginning
starting the building and the
filling in
is a heavenly calling
one I am finally accepting
