How Could I Not Love You?

There was a time I needed a person to talk to;
Someone who’s able to deal with my crazy ways.
Someone sincere and kind, lighthearted and playful;
Someone I hoped would be able to lighten my days.

So I made a list of everything I wanted;
Every possible thing important to me.
Political views and world outlook included;
And I scattered it to the winds to see what would be.

It had to be someone who also loved cats as I do;
Whose outlook on life was very much like my own.
I specified every attribute essential;
And dropped them on the earth to see what would be sown.

I listed kindness, honesty, and humor;
Intelligence, caring and so many more.
Easy-going and understanding — so vital;
And threw them in water to see what came ashore.
