To all readers, writers and your families throughout 2021!

I took these pictures back in summer 2020 at Kao Kor Hong Buddhist temple overlooking Had Yai city in Songkhla province south-east Thailand.

The female Buddha is Guanyin (the one who hears the cries of the world.) A beautiful Indian princess who, like prince Siddhatta Gautama, (Buddha) gave up marriage and riches to become enlightened, compassionate, spiritual beings seeking to alleviate human suffering.

Legend has it after achieving enlightenment, before crossing over into Nirvana (Heaven,) Guanyin heard the cries of the world and returned to earth vowing to stay until suffering had ended.

This seems particularly pertinent in these covid times.

Unconditional in her love, compassionate and a saviour; fisherman pray for Guanyin’s protection while she is regarded by many as the protector of women and children.

In the introductory picture, Guanyin is flanked by two children, disciple, Sanchai, with Longnu, a snake girl holding a bowl with the pearl of light. Guanyin holds a lotus flower, the symbol of purity of heart and spirit overlooking Had Yai city.

To the left of the introductory picture above, you can see a golden Buddha.

Here is a picture of Buddha looking over Had Yai with Guanyin in the foreground. Protectors of the people.

As requested by Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her) I humbly highlight Bhavna Narula’s stunning tribute to her fellow writers and readers.

Thank you as always, Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her) for giving my words a platform. 🙏✨ Thank you all for reading and your precious time. Always. J. 🙏✨
