Being Touched — Reading Stories that are Soul-Searing and Healing

My weekly Detox….

There are moments in your day when you just want to throw away everything around and huff or puff or stomp out to someplace where no one is there to smirk at you.

I have many of such moments every week and the only detox for me in such moments is — ‘Words’. Be it reading them or listening to them or just grabbing a pen and pouring out in them, all that is pent-up.

I don’t know why but this song comes to my mind right now, #Words by #Boyzone. Wanna hear it? Go ahead……

The words that I read are the cure for my caboodle mind, as I get lost in them and forget all my woes both dramatic as well as emotionally-draining ones. Well I have the privilege of being a melodrama queen most of the time, it’s expected of us, right?

And the best reading I get is @medium of course. So, when today I got tagged by Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) about the piece which touched us most this week, I took the opportunity without any second thoughts.

The first story is a listible of meditations that can detox your mind, body and soul. My favourites among the list are the Chocolate, Smiling and Hugging meditations. So, dear readers go on and hop into the meditative world of Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles. I don’t need any more words to give you the reason why this story affected me, you will know it yourself……….

The next story that wrenched my heart is a capsuled memoir by Marcus. I just stayed glued to my seat for many minutes after I reached the end of his tale. A journey of intermittent loss, hope, love, spiritual devastations and awakenings all rolled into his words. We all have gone through these phases and emotions in our lives may be in different aspects and situations, but it is always cathartic to hear or read or watch those stories through someone else’s pen or eyes. Isn’t it? So, go ahead and delve into his words…….

Thank you Lucy, for the wonderful prompt that not only promotes/inspires writers but also gives readers a space to find the best words on this platform. This piece is in response to the prompt below…..

Readers, please do share your time to read these stories and let me know your take-out messages out of them. So much from me — Life is Amazing with Books and Writers.
