Writing prompt # a recipe that is terrible to taste but fun to read (hopefully)
Bittersweet Smoothie
an emotional recipe
Ingredients:
A Pinch of Loss
One cup of memories
(finely shredded)
mix with the scent of dried roses
(petal by petal)
sprinkle a pinch of teardrops
(freshly collected if possible)
a Dash of Hope
whisk a handful of dreams
(delicately crushed)
add the whisper
(preferably of a forgotten promise)
a ray of sunshine
(gently brushed)
A Hint of Resilience
Combine the strength
(of a thousand sighs)
gently fold in the echoes
(of a mending heart)
add just a touch of humor
(of time’s healing power)
Instructions:
Preheat the emotions and leave on simmer.
In a vessel of solitude slowly melt the past.
Stir in the present and let it shimmer
Add the future as a glimmer to last.
Allow the mixture to marinate quietly and undisturbed.
As the flavors blend watch them evolve.
Leave to simmer over the fire of life’s lessons learned.
Serve with a garnish of wisdom and resolve.
Thank you to Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) for the prompt. I wrote this in response to a prompt by Lucy and can’t seem to find the original prompt. my recollection of the prompt is something along the lines of # a recipe that is terrible to taste but fun to read (hopefully). I am unsure if I tackled this prompt as intended but here it is for your reading pleasure. This “recipe” serves as a poem that explores the complex emotions of loss, hope, and resilience. So — dear reader —while the emotions described here may not be pleasant to experience it hopefully makes for a good read. What do you think?
Thank you for reading.
