This is for my black sisters who keep getting nos,
Always at the mercy of some gossip folks,
Always staring at the mirror and going, “Yuck!!”
Any form of success is reduced to luck,
Pressure to get married early,
Pressure to compete with dem girlies,
Give birth to a kid and they judge you,
Don’t have a job? They will ignore you,
Argue with the elders? They will all you rude,
Try and live your life? Society will start having views,
You have only one life to live my sister,
So just do you and ignore the excessive chatter?
Why? Because people will talk anyways.
