Buffering;
paused on a freeze-frame;
unmoveable;
forever flipping
between progress and regress
the needle’s stuck between the tracks
and the world is left in an eternal stasis
the basis
of power struggles
and pain; play the record again
because I think we’re gonna need it now;
play it again, Sam,
put that round disc back
on the turntable
and set it playing;
it spins around and
we hold on
to the speeding carousel horses that make
their way through
this
indeterminate ride to
nowhere
that none of us
got on
voluntarily
