Just ten minutes
not enough for a nap
But oh!
just so much
can fit in that gap

Maybe
teach a goldfish a brand-new trick
ponder what the cat contemplates
imagine a flying squirrel
pen a love note or two
craft a haiku tree
make a sandwich or two
enough time to doodle
perhaps just a blink or two
or not!

Just ten minutes
a blink a wink and maybe a grin
a test that turns positive
a beginning or the end
a news that’s awaited
a mile-long sprint

Just ten minutes
separate so much
the new life path from the old

in each of these 10 minutes
there is plenty to savor
many spacious breaths
infectious laughter
sadness or joy
just to name a few

So,
Go ahead
claim these ten minutes
within just ten short minutes
lie countless possibilities
and you just might
shape your destiny!

What’s it going to be today?

Thank you to Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) for the prompt: #WritingPrompt: What can you do in 10 minutes? As I read Lucy’s post — it instantly served as a gentle reminder of the profound possibilities that reside within just ten minutes. Just ten minutes may not be a lot of time for a nap, but within this seemingly brief duration, so much is possible — from making sandwiches to doodling, from a blink or two to the creation of something extraordinary. Perhaps, within those ten minutes, you could witness a significant moment — a test turning positive, eagerly awaited news, a mile-long sprint, or even the birth or end of something profound. The ten short minutes have the power to separate the old from the new even allowing us to savor spacious breaths, infectious laughter, and the spectrum of emotions that life unfolds — sadness or joy, just to name a few.

So — dear reader — perhaps it’s about seizing those brief moments to craft something new and to let the moments define the day rather than the day defining the moments — Say — What will you make of these ten minutes today?

Thank you for reading.
