Rising Tide

a poem about better times ahead

I’m writing this because
I’m feeling sort of down.

I can’t be the only person who
feels like they’re about to drown.

Every day is a new opportunity
but some days feel like a chore.

I’m here to remind us that
life can sometimes be a bore.

To live means to take the good.
To live means to take the bad.

My hope is that our happy
always outweighs our sad.

So I’m calling out to all the souls
who need a helping hand.

Could you please hold mine, and mine yours,
so that we may reach the shore and sand?

No longer afraid and drowning,
but lifting each other up.

So when one of us rises above
we bless the next with the same luck.
