There is such power in stories
particularly of stories of people
near you, like you

than stats,
despite the firmness,
the clarity of stats.

Maybe that’s why I am a writer
and not a statistician
(or maybe I am a writer
who is secretly a statistician)
writing the stories
that hopefully are not
formulaic
yet have a common,
underlying theme
of empowering another
to continue to think,
to grow,
to rest,
to be.
