Is that Ego?

Photo by Oladimeji Odunsi on Unsplash

Constraining the view,
They stood above thick and high.
Separating me from the world,
They talked of a thing called pride.

Time nourished them,
Their strength increased day by day.
Convincing me that’s my fate, it
Enclosed me in its seige.

I now lay down, crumpled.
The voices reach me,
And I scream in reply —
But, does it ever reach the terminus?

I feel the distance growing.
But got no tool break —
these barriers of brilliance,
That have grown like weeds,
all around me.

From the beautiful fields of love,
Gobbled up I was.
And here, am caged now
In these unseen walls.

Useless is my strength, my force
It’s all empty in here,
Can’t step outside either.
But that doesn’t matter,
And all I got now is painful leisure.

Pov: Ego and pride gradually eats an introvert, and that introvert knows.

Writer's note:

Hey everyone, I wasn’t active for quite a long time due to my exams, so my apologies if I failed to respond. Happy to be back ^_^

Thanks for reading :)
