Welcome 2022

a poem to welcome the New Year

It’s raining at 3 am on January 1st
when my divided sleep wakes me
not so gently, pulling me outside
for a drink, I forgot in the car last night.

Rain signifies a new start: something I need,
the cleansing away of things better
left in the past and a fresh slate to begin
again- designing a life I love
with a careful pen and eraser for changes
I want to make as I move into newness.

Tired, ambitious, and riding the waves
of emotion, the new year can bring-
the anything can happen vibes
It’s always a choose-your-own
adventure plus inputs from life.

Give me the courage to choose the right ones.

Thank you for taking the time to read my work today and Happy New Year!
