Hint: I am genuinely grateful.

I am a day and a bathroom trip away from shark week, and while being on your period never warrants bitchery — this is fair warning that my sass-o-meter is redlining tonight.

However, that said, I will never throw shade in or around the Medium Community.

I am too grateful for that.

This brings me to the explanation of the title of this piece: What I really mean when I thank everyone for reading my articles. Even though I disagree with Victoria Suzanne’s stance on thanking her readers, her piece, For The love of God, Stop Thanking Me for Reading, sparked my curiosity and helped me nail down what I was finally going to write about today.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I am one of those writers who thanks her readers for reading — and I am damn proud of it. So, I would like to take this golden opportunity to share my reasons for doing so quickly.

What ‘Thank you for reading’ means to me:

  • Thank you for Hearing me at a time in my life when I have never felt so mute.
  • Thank you for Seeing me at a time in my life when I’ve never felt so invisible.
  • Thank you for your Support at a time in my life when I’ve never felt so rejected.
  • Thank you for letting me be Me at a time in my life when my identity was blurry as can be.

Thank you for reading. You are loved. ❤
