What value do they add to you?

“Love is a command, association is not.”

I heard these words for the first time from my revered mentor, Joshua Selman. I listened as every word of his dropped as raindrops on a desert land.

Who are your five closest friends?

What value do they add to you?

Your answer to the above questions is crucial.

You must be deliberate about who you allow in your inner circle. You are not under any obligation to tolerate the presence of anyone who doesn’t add value to you, or advance you on your quest to fulfil destiny.

You have personal sovereignty over how, when, and to whom you dispense your absence and presence to as you seem fit.

Detach yourself from parasitic relationships without feeling guilty.

King Solomon said, “Leave the presence of a [shortsighted] fool, For you will not find knowledge or hear godly wisdom from his lips.”

Seest thou a man deliberate in his relationships, he shall dine with kings and not mere men.
