I haven’t been an editor for very long, but boy has it been super interesting! I love being able to be there at the forefront, discovering rough diamonds and working with you all to help polish them ready to present to the world.

What is always constant is the appreciation I feel for letting me (and my amazing co-editors) see your work, as well as the appreciation we receive on the back of feedback we provide. So thank you!

But one of the elements I’m nearly always finding writers can improve is the formatting of your stories.

Of course, writing is both a science and an art, and I wouldn’t begrudge anyone using the written word for creative expression (and thus, use not-so-common, stylistic formatting). However, as impressive as it can be, The Brave Writer isn’t a place for fiction or prose.

It’s a place for writers to share their writing experiences in the forms of tips, inspirational advice, practical writing guides, and how to get eyeballs on your work.

This kind of writing (with few exceptions) should use the following formatting guide for the best chance to publish and keep readers on your story.
