How a Book Deal Led to a Blogging Deal
When the sideshow becomes the main act
In 2003, I was offered my first book deal. I turned it down.
I had submitted the above art sample to an editor at Houghton Mifflin. She loved the piece and asked me to write a story around it. I emailed her back that I was “not a writer.” I was only trying to find illustration work.
