The Bridge Week in Review
September 21–27, 2015
Greetings Bridge Reader,
Do you know we have a Twitter page? Follow us there and continue the conversation!
Now here’s who you might have missed this week on The Bridge…
The Bridge was also pleased to open a brief series in response to the publication of The Army Vision: Strategic Advantage in a Complex World.
Leo Cruz opened up the series with “The Security Environment and the Army Vision”
“Above all, the Army must ensure that no particular set of skills is overly-prioritized or undervalued as a “lesser-included” subset of another, as a combination of these skills will likely be necessary to achieve victory.”
Adin Dobkin followed with “Innovation and the Army Vision”
“Pushing intelligence to smaller units, an effort that should be pursued irrespective of decentralization, ensures that those with the most direct on-the-ground experience are also best informed of the larger picture.”
Next was Kurt Degerlend with an airman’s perspective in “Same Wars, Different Fights”
“The Air Force vision is highly focused on providing air power to the joint user. It begins with a joint ethos, building trusted relationships with the combatant commander, and advocating for air power’s compelling capabilities. Subordination to the joint fight has overcome the early airpower advocate’s hubris.”
Finally, Carl Forsling closed out the series with “A Marine’s View of the Army Vision”
“[The Army Vision] spends a majority of its text discussing the agile, expeditionary, scalable, and flexible nature of the force…exact words…already used in the Marine Corps’ Expeditionary Force 21.”
This coming week on The Bridge we are pleased to feature musings from Eric Michael Murphy, and articles from
Brett Friedman, Dave Mattingly, Renata Keller, and Alexander Schade.
Thanks for reading and writing!
