Two boys were sitting in McCarren Park, waiting for a friend, when a police car drove by.

“Thank God we didn’t smoke it,” said one.

“They can’t just come up to me,” said the other.

The first boy joked about what he would say if the police drove by again: “Bring your shit, you little Mexican.”

The police drove by again but this time the boys were not concerned.

“They can’t do shit to me,” said the first boy. “I’m 18.”

Their friend soon joined them. He was surprised to find them sitting in the park doing nothing, now that they had graduated from high school.

“You’re not working man?” he asked. “What the fuck are you doing?”

“I’m chilling,” said one of the boys.

He shifted his attention to the handball court.

“You suck!” he yelled at one of the players.

The player turned to him and asked, “You up next?”
