Rakim is the best MC EVER,
but the brother did curse….twice?
If you’ve been on social media in the last week, you may have read Darnell Moore’s post, Did You Know? Rakim, Arguably The Hardest Rapper To Rap, Never Used One Curse In Not A Single Verse, EVER!
But as others not-so-nicely stated in the comments section of the article (Keyboard Courage at it’s best), Rakim DID curse in a verse. Well, maybe TWICE.
"My Melody" was my introduction to Rakim back in 1986, and I prefer that over the more popular "Eric B For President". The famous "7 MCs " line is from "My Melody".

One reason Rakim is an MC (not a rapper) is because the brother has a crazy vocabulary and cadence. "Using blurs and slurs and words that don't fit in a rhyme. Why waste time on the microphone?" Perfect (LOL). Here's my point (and example):
From the 1:46 to the 1:57 mark, and again from 2:03 to the 2:29 minute mark, the brother cancels Christmas for any wannabe battle rapper who tries to step to him. In the words of a drunk uncle at a family reunion, "This ain't gonna end well for you."
Obviously this doesn't diminish Rakim's impressive body of work. Again, for those not familiar with Rakim, "My Melody" is the perfect introduction to the best MC. Ever. In my opinion.
But, the brother did curse in a verse. But just….twice, ok? LOL.
