Move Over Ted Lasso, NFT Communities Are Now Managing Soccer Clubs
We had the chance to catch up with one of the latest partners of Beyond Rarity, World of Football (WoF) via a Twitter Space. Forty minutes was not enough time to cover all the exciting and interesting things that WoF has been working on since Jan ’22. Spearheaded by their founder Francisco ‘Cisco’ Terreros a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in professional sports including owning a sports agency that represents players worldwide.
Bridging the gap between Web2 & Web3
WoF is taking a far too often used cliché and doubling down on its premise. How? World of Football owns a club that you can influence today. Through the use of NFTs and the decision-making power of group think, WoF is enabling their community to be managers of a professional soccer club. The community has already made major voting decisions on a coach and a new kit (uniform) for the team. This isn’t your generic PFP in-a-box NFT project by any means.
Using the funds raised from WoF’s Gold & OG Captain collections they were able to acquire Forjães SC back in May ’22. Forjães SC isn’t some startup club, this is an existing team with a rich history that spans over 55 years!
Going from the pitch to the Metaverse
Every NFT project has a roadmap, but not many deliver the goods. World of Football is taking another narrative that plagues the space and flipping it on its head. How are they doing so far? Let’s review.

Every item on their roadmap has been executed. The WoF project has rolled out all three of their mints, built their metaverse stadium, bought Forjães SC, completed their airdrops, and sold out their latest Dream Team collection. It’s not every day an NFT project can stand up comfortably and say they have done everything they promised to do and then some.

World of Football is made of Four NFT collections. Each with their specific utility and role they plan in managing Forjães SC. They have released three collections, and here’s the full breakdown.
Golden Captain their genesis collection a 2 ETH mint back in Feb ’22 sold out in 20 minutes.
OG Captain the second collection of 444 tokens is only available on secondary.
Dream Team the third collection sold out and is only available on secondary.

As the markets shift into bearish sentiment it puts a greater sense of responsibility to support projects that deliver on what they say they will do. We’ve all heard “NFTs are scams” and one way to rewrite that narrative is to lift projects swimming against that current. The founders of WoF have executed every phase of their v1 roadmap. They have doubled down on their convictions and rolled every penny they’ve earned back into the project and then some.
When founders are just as vested as the holders, it’s a great sign, much like a traditional start-up you want to be hungry, not well-fed, and lazy, or worse taking the money and running. We look forward to completing the integration of WoF into our NFT Rarity Tool and we are more than happy to have them. In a space where the majority are trapped in a cookie-cutter box, WoF is pushing the bounds of what we think is possible and going beyond.
