The Met Gala is the gala of all galas.

The first Monday of May is a time looked forward to by many people. The Met Gala is the god of all galas. The Met Gala is based at a museum where the theme of the gala is based on a certain exhibit being displayed.

The Met Gala is known for its many outrageous themes. The themes are known to be over the top and the celebrities that participate are known to wear some of the most extravagant pieces. The theme for the 2019 Met Gala was “Camp: Notes On Fashion”. The camp is just an exaggeration of simple fashion.

When asked about who they were looking forward to seeing this year many stated Rihanna, Zendaya, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga. Rihanna has been known for making an appearance and going all out for the Met Gala’s themes. Unfortunately, Rihanna and Beyoncé weren’t in attendance, but their fellow party goers didn’t let us down. Zendaya came as the wonderful Cinderella, with a dress that transformed right before our eyes. Lady Gaga came with four wardrobe changes and striking very dramatic poses.

Other icons that lit up the pink carpet was Lena Waithe, Celine Dion, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Billy Porter, and more. Billy Porter was brought onto the pink carpet carried by six men who went with his theme of a pharaoh. Jared Leto left everyone in awe when he came with his own realistic replica of his head. Also, Lena Waithe came with a bold statement of, “Black Drag Queens Invented Camp.”

When asked who her favorite celebrities’ outfit at the Met Gala was this year she stated,” Cardi B because she always does the most and never disappoints.” Another stated,” I think it’s cool how the Cinderella family was portrayed on the pink carpet; Zendaya was Cinderella, Kendall and Kylie Jenner were the stepsisters, and Cardi B as the evil stepmother.”
