Development

  • Everyone needs to update his wallet at least to BRS 2.2.6, and preferably to 2.2.7 when it is out (soon). PoCC developer rico666 explained in a Reddit post: “With the upcoming release of BRS 2.2.7, every wallet below version 2.2.6 is considered senescent and will be excluded from any communication whatsoever. If you are on 2.2.6, you’re ok. 2.2.7 is better, but 2.2.6 is ok. If you are on anything from 2.2.0 to 2.2.5, you are not ok. In this case, we want your wallet to die sooner or later. Because these wallets hinder us doing great next-level things, we will work hard to make it happen sooner.”
  • More information about the fat blocks topic by PoCC developer Brabantian here.
  • Community Champion nixops raised his concerns about the current licence of Aspera, the next-generation Burst wallet currently in development. In its current form, this licence restricts the use of Aspera to only the Burst blockchain (althought it was stated that it was meant as a temporary shield and not to remain here permanently). This has been a hot topic within the community for the past day and a half.
  • PoCC developer ac0v explained this topic is currently being discussed within the PoC Consortium.
  • Rico666 confirms: “Internal discussion about the Aspera license is ongoing and we expect a definite decision and public announcement regarding this matter in the first week of January 2019”
  • The PoC Consortium released a new version of their mining software: Scavenger v.1.6.6.
  • This version fixes an issue Scavenger had under extreme network conditions (such as the last spam attack), where it could get stuck when presented a lower block number than before. This can happen when the network or the pool wallet must perform a fork resolution.
  • Please update. As scavenger is used more and more for mining operations, we would not want a fork processing to knock out the majority of mining capacity.
  • Just a small hint from rico666: “We are discussing “Burst acquisition options” for one of the next BRS releases. Stay tuned.”

Websites

  • Burst is now listed on a new Crypto market data website: Chainsage.
  • Reddit user u/sphinxicus is a contributor to the Burst wiki. He recently created a YouTube channel with Burst “How To” videos for Linux users.

Conclusion

Please do not forget to update your wallets and mining softwares. Network health depends on each and everyone of you. In the meantime, development continues relentlessly, and big plans are unfolding. As usual!

Thank you and see you next week.
