Development
- The PoC Consortium released new versions of both Engraver and Scavenger, the reference plotting and mining softwares.
- PoCC developer JohnnyFFM released engraver 2.0.4 today. There was a bug causing all files with a startnonce not equal to 0 to be corrupt in Engraver 2.0.2. He states: “this was a nasty issue but it is now fixed. I am deeply sorry for this and hope I did not cause to much inconvenience for users who have recently tested Engraver.”
- The good news for windows users: a GUI is now included in the 2.0.4 release. If feedback is positive, JohnnyFFM will push this as candidate to replace Xplotter in Qbundle.
- Aditionnally, Engraver as well as Scavenger now fully support AVX512f for compatible CPUs. JohnnyFFM explains here the benefits it brings for scanning speed.
- Finally, Odroid XU4 Mali OpenCL support has been added to Scavenger 1.6.4.
- Everything leads to believe the BRS 2.2.3 and BRS 2.2.4 core wallet versions work like a charm. “I am pretty confident that the network was never as healthy as it is today”, says PoCC developer rico666.
“Unreachable” is simply wallets that are not operated 24/7. Unreachable and resync are normal and do not constitute a problem. Only the green slice is a problem.

- Last week, we saw that we have been confirmed as being in the ‘to list’ for Numex. However, many people within the community have pointed out that this is an exchange that is not yet built, so we need to see what ‘further steps’ are needed. Meanwhile, as Dan Dares reminded: “do not buy in to any exchange until things are clear, DYOR!”

- Burst now has its own peer to peer exchange inspired from localbitcoins.com: localburstcoins.com. Still in beta!

- Burst community figures Daniel Jones (@nixops) and Tamara Sanchez (@grlz2grlz) hosted a big marketing related discussion on Saturday.
- Here is a summary by Daniel: “Start local user groups, if you do not know how, please contact Tamara or myself and we will get you going. Keep in mind you could also start getting involved in your local space if you are unsure of the idea of starting your own group. This way you will build a network as you also learn more about some of the local things going on. This is important as this can open up avenues for personal growth as well as open up ways of getting burst adoption. That being said we encourage you to get involved with anyway you have time and capacity for. If you do not have time to get involved, that is fine too. But you could help in some likes crossposting and such as that takes seconds. We all would like to encourage you to get involved in helping make content and help with the wiki. It takes team work to make this work, we are all a team. Let’s start working as one.”
- On progress tracking: “A new system of weekly check ins on progress on tasks, teams will work together to accomplish goals. We will help in getting this process started, this will be ran by those that want to market and want to get things done. While it may seem silly, but just a little bit of time each week from everyone goes a long long long way if it is scoped correctly.”
- The PoC Consortium is organizing a Burst airdrops campaign on Reddit and Twitter.
- PoC Consortium developer rico666 analyzes: “Originally meant to give our tx capacity a test drive, we’re hardly getting the engines started. Some people may think 1 Burst being “a penny”, but it allows for 136 transactions, so everyone intending to start with Burst is more than served with that. He can set an account name, register (several) Aliases, even fund some friends for their first Burst needs, set a reward recipient for pool mining…”. It is a great way to introduce someone to Burst.
- We are looking for people with a great voice, awesome video editing skills, or who can write great scripts. Read this post by PoC Consortium Brabantian for more details.
- Most stickers for the Global Burst Stickers Campaign have been sent. Around 4000 stickers are still available.

Conclusion
Another week packed with promising things. The community discussion around marketing was encouraging as many community members ended up showing interest in the initiative. The Burst network is as healthy as ever. The community is getting more and more organized and involved. Good signs for the future!
