Your Mamba Mentality instilled in me lives on forever. You demonstrated an unparalleled love for the game, a tremendous work ethic, and a relentless drive to be the best in the world.

You epitomized the global reach of the NBA. Your fierce competitiveness on the court and your meticulous attention to detail off the court was awe-inspiring.

The Black Mamba showed a passion for basketball unlike any other. You grew the sport and transcended into a legendary icon for the Los Angeles Lakers and the city of LA.

You are one of the greatest players to ever wear the purple and gold. You blessed the Staples Center for two decades. It was beautiful to witness your second act as a father, an Oscar-winning filmmaker, and an ambassador of the women’s game.

You spoke several languages fluently. You talked trash in Slovenian to Luka Doncic sitting courtside. You left a legacy that will live on for generations to come through the players in the league today.

Thank you for inspiring us to be storytellers, artists, creators, and masters of our craft. Thank you for embodying the number 24 to show us how much you can accomplish in a day with 24 hours.

Thank you for demonstrating what an undying quest to find the truths about…
