After nearly two years working with Mozilla Foundation on their IMLS grant to further develop curriculum and create digital badging for library staff, we (METRO) turned in our grant report last Wednesday.

As with any end to a longer-term project, this is a bittersweet moment. We’ve been on monthly community calls, joined committee to help develop and create new curriculum, and piloted new workshops for our community of library and archives staff. We made a lot of professional connections, developing a wonderful community around teaching Web Literacy concepts to library staff and library patrons/users/customers. And of course we learned a LOT along the way.

These topics and activities will live on with us in the form of future workshops and trainings, especially regarding the myriad challenges that lie ahead in determining the trustworthiness of online information (particularly now that video is also subject to fakery). We’re also working on an initiative to provide front line library staff with training on online privacy and security, a project that might not have been possible without our work with Mozilla.

If, like us, you’re eager to hold on just a little while longer, read more about the last leg of our journey:
