.) Attend a ceremony — Almost every city has a Memorial Day recognition for Veterans. Take your family along to pay tribute; I promise it will be a moving experience.

.) Visit with seniors — Stop by a Veterans Home or local nursing home to visit with veterans. Have your kids make “thank you for your service” cards to distribute. Let them know their sacrifice has not been forgotten.

.) Write a soldier — There are a lot of programs (like Adopt a US Soldier or Soldiers’ Angels) that match you up with a soldier to correspond with; take time to write a letter of thanks and encouragement to a serviceman or woman.

.) Craft with kids — Talk to your children about the meaning of Memorial Day while enjoying a fun, kid-friendly craft. Here are a few ideas curated

.) Volunteer — if your town has a charitable organization that works with veterans, volunteer or donate to their efforts. You can also find a wide variety of national organizations to become involved with online.
