Redwall- Brian Jacques

Redwall is the first book in a series by Brian Jacques weaving together the fantasy of talking animals within an idealized version of medieval society.

In this series the reader is taken on a journey to a medieval like abbey named Redwall that has withstood the test of time through the eyes of several different animals that live or have visited it.

Although this book is at a junior high reading level, Jacques has created a story that is enjoyable for older and younger audiences as well. This makes Redwall the perfect read for the entire family.

I recommend this book for children around a junior high reading level who enjoy books that have a little bit of fantasy with a folk story feel to them, especially if they have shown an interest in Arthurian legends.
