Greetings Managers, Champion speaking here!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. After finishing in 6th place in the 2021/22 season, clinching the crown in 2022/23 is undoubtedly the best way to solidify my presence here, dedicated to assisting you in selecting those perfect differentials.

While the #ChampionsFantasy format may have evolved, our core strategy remains steadfast. Despite the absence of manual substitutions or captain changes during the gameweek, we’re sticking to our plan of assembling a squad that plays only in GW1, with a Wildcard ready to be unleashed in GW2. More on that in just 15 days.

With this strategy in mind, and recognizing the importance of filling your squad with three or four fringe players to fortify your bench, I’d like to shine a spotlight on one forward, one midfielder, and one defender who perfectly fit this category.

Loïs Openda | RBL | F | 6.5M | In 10% of teams

Kicking off on the first Tuesday’s slot, we’ll have the luxury of knowing if Openda is in the starting lineup or not. Chances are, he will be, given that he has started all five competitive games for Leipzig, notching up three goals and one assist. Facing Young Boys away, this Belgian striker is a prime candidate for your squad, especially if you’re not loading up with three premium forwards.

Yankuba Minteh | FEY| M | 5.0M | In 0% of teams

In case you’re wondering about this rising Gambian starlet, let me tell you that he has replaced Santiago Giménez in the last three domestic games and as a winger originally, he is classified as a midfielder in the game. To sweeten the deal, he’s scored two goals in his last two outings. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Samson Baidoo | RBS | D | 4.0M | In 1% of teams

But wait, there’s more! Enter Baidoo, our budget-friendly 4.0M defender — a fantastic bench option for those employing the 3–4–3 formation. What’s even more exciting is that he’s no stranger to the opposition’s net, having scored two goals in four matches in the Austrian Bundesliga. One less thing for you to worry about.

Now, with these three picks in mind, you’re well on your way to building a competitive squad for the upcoming Champions League Fantasy round. Stay tuned for more insights and strategies as the season unfolds.

Good luck, Champions!
