Champions Fantasy — Fantasista Tips for Gameweek 7
Group Stage is done. Knockouts starting tonight. Unlimited transfers. Fantasista to steer the way!
Well, it seems like it was yesterday. A good run up the rankings was under way, I was flying back home that afternoon but missing the kick-offs for the Day 2 matches of Gameweek 6. I had to make substitutions in advance, ending up not knowing about the delay in Atalanta’s matchup and playing Pašalić instead of Davies and his 11-pointer against Barcelona.
But enough crying, that was more than two months ago, tears under the bridge, and now we face a brand new challenge: four days of UCL Round of 16, evenly distributed between two weeks. Not easy to decide on players for matches 7 days from today, so take extra caution with teams from next week’s games.
With all this in mind that in mind here are four options for each day. Yes, all differential picks, as always.
Aymeric Laporte | MCI | D | 6.0M | In 1% of teams
You probably know by now that Man City hasn’t managed a single cleanie in the group stage, and Sporting only failed to score in one match (away, at Dortmund). So, why a City defender? Simple. After Cancelo, that will be picked by at least half of the playing field, he is the one with the biggest offensive threat, with already 3 goals scored in the Premier Legue this season.
Thomas Müller | BAY | M | 10.0M | In 4% of teams
Bayern’s matchup versus Salzburg is probably the one who will be more targeted for offensive returns. So maybe a triple attacking bet is not such a bad idea. Since Gnabry and Coman will battle for the last available place, it would be wise to go with the safe bet on Captain Müller. Two goals, two assists, and 12 key passes in 5 starts. The perfect partner for your Lewa’s and your Sané’s!
Dušan Vlahović | JUV | A | 9.0M | In 0% of teams
Lewandowski and Haller will mostly certain be the main contenders for all of our attacking trio’s. So, for the third slot, you might as well go with the ultimate differential at your disposal. The ex-Fiorentina striker scored 18 goals in this season’s Serie A, and will look to stamp his debut in the European stage with, at least, a goal. This is something to really put your faith behind, given that Villarreal conceded in every game so far in this year’s Champion League.
Dusan Tadić | AJX | M | 8.0M | In 4% of teams
If you have the extra budget, it is impossible to go wrong with him. Three attacking returns representing 7pts/gm with an astonishing 4 key passes for every 90 minutes played! Ajax are in fine form currently and Benfica has conceded in 6 of the 8 matches played so far in 2022.
