The 4 tipsters of Fantasy Football Fevr bring you 3 players each, from all areas of the pitch, so you can climb on the ranks and get on top of your private league.

Alexandre Oliveira

Nicolás Otamendi | Argentina | D | 6.2M | 14% ownership

One of the top teams in this World Cup, both offensively and defensively, has been Argentina. The Argentine defender with the best chance of keeping his place in the line-up is Otamendi. The Benfica defender has already an assist in the competition and he is one of the main targets in set pieces, so you might expect some offensive returns.

Lucas Paquetá | Brazil | M | 6.0M | 2% ownership

Brazil has been the team playing the best football in this World Cup. It is important to find the budget options in the best teams so we can still fit the premiums. Despite being a central midfielder, Lucas Paquetá is a very offensive player who frequently stands on the edge of the penalty area (as happened against South Korea in the goal he scored). Due to his excellent passing ability, he may potentially generate opportunities for assists. Excellent qualities for a 6M price tag.

Olivier Giroud | France | F | 6.9M | 13% ownership

Giroud took advantage of the opportunity to assume leadership of the reigning world champion team since Benzema was unable to compete. For a striker who competes for one of the top national teams in the world, the French forward’s price is excellent. Giroud has started three games and has scored three goals, making him a very threatening player whenever France is on the attack.

João Simões

Diogo Dalot | Portugal | D | 5.1M | 6% ownership

The Portuguese right-back was the first choice in the past two games, dethroning Cancelo. Even though they lost the clean sheet in those games, he provided two assists, accumulating six points in each game. So, playing against Morocco (I anticipate a similar approach as they did in the 0–0 against Spain), Portugal has good chances to keep the CS and, if that happens, Dalot can haul due to his attacking quality.

Neymar Júnior | Brazil | M | 10.7M | 24% ownership

Probably all of us weren’t expecting Neymar’s return this soon after the injury but with him able to play, after scoring 12 points against South Korea and being favorites in the quarters against Croatia, we have to at least consider bringing him in. The high price will almost certainly force us to downgrade other players to bring the Canarinha star but, in a short competition like the World Cup, you need to go big or go home.

Julián Álvarez | Argentina | F | 7.2M | 8% ownserhip

La Albiceleste’s world cup xG was 2.26–0.32–3.69–1.69 in each of the four games and they are 3rd for big chances missed with 10. I expect goals in this game and Álvarez mobility can be important to break through the Netherlands’ defense. He will try to score for the third game in a row, helping the team continue to the next round. Also at this stage, the price is important (maybe to help you bring the pick above).

Luís Costa

Achraf Hakimi | Morocco | D | 4.7M | 20% ownership

We know you’re all hyped with Portugal’s performance against Switzerland and you’re expecting them to carry on against Morocco. However, we are almost at the end of the tournament, and we are running out of opportunities to get some points that would make the difference in that private league that you’re so desperate to win. Hakimi can work as an enabler, but I expect the Atlas Lions to be solid in defense, similar to what they did in the last match against Spain.

Raphinha | Brazil | M | 8.5M | 4% ownership

Raphinha’s last match against South Korea was crazy. 3 shots on target with 0.52 xG (expected goals), 4 key passes, 2 big chances created, and 5 duels won — 5 points. Relying on his expected performance, Raphinha could have done 27 points by now in the tournament compared to the 16 points he actually has. If you’re looking for something different and you trust Barcelona’s winger to overcome the underperformance, this could be the right move to get some steam into your team.

Antoine Griezmann | France | F | 7.6M | 7% ownership

4 key passes, 0.89 non penalty goal involvement, 1.4 big chances created per 90 minutes. Griezmann has been one of the best players in the tournament so far. The Frenchman has been a key player for Les Bleus, often involved in the team’s attacking plays. Although this match does not seem the best for an offensive return, Griezmann’s influence and creativity will be crucial to help France go through the next phase, making this match the best opportunity for him to shine.

Tozé Arantes

Thiago Silva | Brazil | D | 6.2M | 14% ownership

Brazil has the biggest chance of going to the semi-finals of all the teams still present. Everyone wants to maximize the players of the Canarinha and unless you intend to go with 4 attackers, Thiago Silva is one of the best options as a defender. He is 0.5M cheaper than Marquinhos and even got 1 assist last game. He is nailed in the line-up so there is no danger of rotation here.

Enzo Fernández | Argentina | M | 5.1M | 5% ownership

This pick is all about getting the budget for the other options. Everyone wants to fit Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé into the team. Enzo is 5.1M and he has been one of the young stars in the competition, being one of the top possibilities to get the best young player of the tournament according to the bookies. He can get offensive returns (1 goal and 1 assist already) and can get some extra points on duels won.

Gonçalo Ramos | Portugal | F | 6.2M | 7% ownership

Ronaldo was dropped and Portugal couldn’t have had the best replacement. Gonçalo Ramos started against Switzerland and he got 3 goals, 1 assist, 5 shots on target and 2 key passes. You can’t ask better than this. I don’t predict a lot of goals, but expect Portugal to score 1 or 2 since Morocco is probably going to play very defensively again. For 6.2M, Ramos is a great bargain.
