Welcome to The Campaign for Gender Equality
We proud Indians of the 21st century rejoice in celebrations when a boy is born, and if it is a girl, a muted celebration is the norm. Love for a male child is so much so that from the times immemorial we are killing our daughters at birth or before birth, and if, fortunately, she is not killed we find various ways to discriminate against her throughout her life. Even boys bear the brunt of this mindset: boys are supposed to grow up to be ‘hard men’. They can’t express emotions of sorrow or be vulnerable or weak. Young boys are told men don’t cry. Since a beautiful soul is born into our world, it is raised and treated based on gender. It is our endeavor to change this mindset, one person, one pronoun, one adjective at a time.
To this end, we hope to join the conversation on gender equality and make the world a better place to live through the following initiatives
- Pledge for Gender Equality
- Web Forum
- Self Defense Classes
- Social Media Outreach
- Newsletter
- Graffiti
- Street Play
We hope to collect data on our impact and use it to adjust our strategy to increase our campaign’s impact.
