Ethereum 2.0 specifications have passed a safety audit. The auditors of Least Authority, a Berlin company, concluded that the specifications were well developed and recommended some minor changes.

During the audit, Least Authority worked closely with the developers of Ethereum 2.0 to understand the protocol features. According to the auditors, the specifications are well-structured and, in general, their safety is implemented at a very high level. However, they recommended further refinement of two elements: the block proposal mechanism and the interaction between peers in the network.

The Ethereum 2.0 research team has recognized these shortcomings and is currently working to address these shortcomings.

A preliminary release of these specifications took place on January 31. On February 5, a deposit smart contract for Ethereum 2.0 passed an audit and formal verification of the bytecode.
