Are you scared of what you can’t see? In the new 2018 movie “Slender Man,” victims are scared of what they can see. Slender Man is a tall, thin man with a featureless face that has been haunting the internet since 2009 when he was created by a Something Awful forum user named Eric Knudsen.

His Internet meme of Slender Man has been portrayed as a stalking figure who terrorizes children. The character has appeared in different media including art, literature and video games. Many YouTube stars have spent time playing the popular internet game, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. In the video game, players are responsible for searching for eight pages that Slender Man has written on. These pages depict creepy messages that don’t really make sense. Many say you cannot win the game and that Slender Man will always get you in the end.

A teaser trailer has come out giving viewers a glimpse of what’s to come. The film will take place around a group of girls living in a small town. The girls set out to disprove the legend of Slender Man, thinking that it is a silly story. As a result, the girls end up having disturbing and gory experiences when the figure of Slender Man starts to haunt them and appears to possess some and kidnap others.

Slender Man has no mercy for his victims and tortures each in a new frightening way. There are controversies around the release of this movie due to an incident that happened in 2014.

In Waukesha, Wis., two 12-year-old girls attempted to murder one of their classmates. Authorities have said that their reasoning was that they wanted a sacrifice for the fictional character Slender Man and that they were afraid that if the murder was not committed, Slender Man would kill their families.

The victim recovered and both of the attackers are in mental institutions. Bill Weier, the father of one of the girls involved in the Waukesha attacks, has commented that making the new film was in “extreme poor taste” and wants theaters not to show it. Nevertheless, the new trailer for this chilling movie gives us a summer release date.

Javier Botet will be depicting the tall, faceless creature who terrorizes this small town. Be prepared for this daunting movie as it brings to life a horrifying story. Can you see Slender Man? Does he haunt your dreams? Find out when the movie comes out in Summer 2018.
