You have no idea how lucky you are to be alive, you are healthy, you have the freedom in life do whatever you want. So how come you’re yet to realize your life’s potential?

Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. — Steve Jobs

So here are five habits that will completely change your life.

1. Wake up early, have an extra hour in your life

Everyone is given the same 24 hours a day, it is how you are using that 24 hours that will ultimately make the difference. So why not wake up early and have an extra hour in life where you can use it in anyway you want to achieve your targets? Why not use it to spend time with your family or loved one? or study or read a new book and improve your knowledge?

The early hours are the best hours that one can use to focus on the most important issues that you will come across in your day. Your mind and body is unsoiled, the morning is a gift that everyone gets to start over again.

2. Have spreadsheet to track your spending

You lose a ton of money because you are not keeping track of them, it might be due to food or clothes, you might be very well spending money on things that you don’t need in life or things that are not high on your priority list.

You can avoid this trap of spending without knowing by keeping an excel spreadsheet and track your expenses every month and see how what are your unwanted spendings and try to cut them off.

3. Have a second mode of income by 35 years of age

After you have reached 35 it’s like a transition period in life, you probably be mostly too old to acquire a new skill or find a new job, your kids are growing and you have become a more responsible person, you might get bored of your work and may feel like quitting.

Either way you should try to figure out a second source of income when you’ve reached 35. It can be either investing your money, or starting your own business it’s the high time for you to have something of your own and be less dependent of someone else.

4. Read read read!!!

Reading should be an essential part of your life, try to read at least few pages from a book, make sure you read something that will add value to your life.

It doesn’t necessarily need to be a book but you can read a blog post or read something off the internet, either way add some value to your life by reading.

5. Plan for the future

If you ask someone where you want to end up 10 years later in life, or when they are planning to retire from their job. 80% of the people when I asked them this question had no clue, make sure you always plan ahead and have a target in your mind.

Only if you have a clear aim where your life should be heading you can guide it to them, if not you will be dragged to all directions from time to time and end up achieving nothing.

BONUS 6. Always think that you’re dying

Death is an essential part in life, and no one is safe from death. Always remembering that you’re going to die gives a purpose to life, if we can live forever then what’s the value in life or what is the value of time?

Only when you realize that you’re dying you will really see the value of the little time you’re given here on earth. So wake up and start working and keep reaching your goals.

Remember,

Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you
