Today people are bombarded with information, a decade ago people either got their news in the morning newspaper and by TV at night. In between that they received very little information.

However since then lot has changed, now people get their news and information as it happens, thanks to the internet and smartphones.

And because of this information overload the attention span is getting shorter by the day. People can’t focus on one thing at a time because as soon as notification pops into the smartphone people tend to get distracted, and one notification from Facebook is enough for people to get hooked for an hour or two.

So how can an app or a service hold an attention of someone for a long period of time? Well it’s simple, to have less, and less is more.

Deliver your service or deliver your content as soon as possible, before someone else distracts your user, you distract them before anyone else.

That’s why Twitter has become so successful, because it won’t take more than few seconds to read a tweet, read the tweet and move on to the next one and the cycle repeats.

That’s why you won’t find blog posts on Facebook, the content on Facebook is delivered to the point, either a short status update, an image or a link, done, period. It won’t take more than few seconds for you to read one Facebook post and they quickly move on to the next one as they get distracted with another post, and the cycle repeats until something else distract you.

Even when it comes to blogging the shorter the blog post the better, no one will read a thousand word long blog post anymore, most are happy to read a listicles and move on, such as the posts found on BuzzFeed. Also it’s more productive to divide a long post into a smaller multiple pieces and deliver quickly.

So don’t wait, just move fast deliver your package, and distract users with your content before anyone else, deliver, distract, repeat.
