What’s the Love You’re Fighting For?

Love used to be the standard,
the reason worth the fight!

It used to be so easy,
to distinguish wrong from right.

But now our minds are blinded,
and we cannot see the way.
When truth is hard to find,
we often go astray.

We say we love and we need it,
we proclaim it as our right.
But who can love when we can’t see it?
How can we love with all our might?

Love is pure and love is true,
love is patient and is kind,
Love is humble, love is good,
Love has wisdom by its side.

Before we say we love another,
let’s listen first to what love says.
For love is never rude nor selfish,
Love will never force its way.

Love is more than what we’re feeling,
it doesn’t make our visions dim.
Love breaks through our deepest yearnings,
it heals the soul from every sin.

Did we forget where true love comes from
when we refused to see the face of God?

What use is it to think we’re loving
when blinded feelings are all we’ve got?

Let’s look for love where we can find it,
as pure as snow from up above.
Only then can hearts be mended,
by matchless joys and endless love.
