Starting the new year, becoming a freshman, and going into high school might sound scary, but it’s not as bad as you might expect it to be. Will I see my old friends in my classes? Will I make new friends? Are the classes going to be difficult? Am I going to get lost? These are all questions that take over the mind during the final weeks leading up to the first day of school. Being scared for your first year is a totally normal thing to stress over, but there are ways and tips that can help you to be prepared for your first day of High School.
- Be Yourself
In high school, it’s very easy to lose yourself when you're trying to be somebody you aren’t. Trying to act a certain way or impress others can take a toll on who you are as a person, it’s better to stay true to who you are. You’ll find your people when it’s your time and they will come to you naturally.
2. Plan the night before
One way to have a great start to your first day (and every other day) is to be prepared. If you are running and rushing to see what hairstyle you’re going to do or what outfit looks best, you’re going to end up having a mental breakdown. You want a relaxing morning to walk out the door feeling ready, not worried.
3. Seek advice
Asking for personal advice from older relatives might not be as bad as you might expect it to be, they have experienced what you are going to face. They might seem “Too old” or “Uncool” to understand what you are trying to explain, but they’ve all dealt with some sort of nerve-wracking challenges they needed to deal with. In this case, don't be afraid to ask them how there first day was like starting high school as a freshman.
4. Stay on top of homework
Keeping up with your work will really help you with your grades and it will keep less stress on your mind. Put in time to focus on school work so that you won’t have late work due and so you can have other important things to do in your free time. Keeping up your grades will have a great impact for your future for if you do want to go to college and if you want a good earning job.
5. Have Fun!
Enjoy your freshman year because the sooner you realize how quickly your youth years can be over, you’ll regret it.
