Do you remember going to the mall as a kid to see Santa Claus, and sitting on his lap to tell him what you wanted for Christmas?

Every year around this time, children all around the world are excitedly waiting for the day that they receive gifts from good ol’ St. Nick, but how many kids still believe in this jolly red man?

Studies have shown that the age where kids find out that Santa Claus isn’t real is getting younger and younger. To begin with, 85% of four year olds believe in Santa, unlike the 25% of eight year olds who don’t.

Many kids start believing in Santa between the ages of three and four, and their belief continues to get weaker from ages four through eight.

In an experiment, kids ages two through ten were taken to visit a Santa Claus impersonator in a mall to see whether or not they still believed in Santa’s existence.

  • Only 39.2% of the kids believed that the Santa Claus impersonator was legit.
  • The other 38.8% didn’t believe he was real at all.

“Nearly three-quarters of Americans say they typically received Christmas Eve visits from Santa as children, and only five adults say they are a parent or guardian of a child in their home who believes in Santa.”

All of these studies concluded that kids are believing less and less in Santa Claus as the years progress.

Which is a shame because it was always so magical when you were a kid, and you stayed up waiting to hear the reindeer outside and Santa coming down your chimney.

Now, the real question is “Do you still believe in Santa Claus?”
