Fashion Trends That Are Slowly Coming Back
BY KAYLANY RAMOS — Staff Writer
Fashion is a flexible topic where new styles come, but old styles seem to make a comeback into fashion. The styles that I will be sharing with you are the 80s and 90s.
Fanny Packs-
In the 1980s, people rocked the fanny pack around the waist. While they were famous, people didn’t see them as fashionable, and those who used them did so for sensible purposes.
Thanks to the increase in athletic wear, fanny packs have experienced a fashionable comeback in the new generation. They can also be called “belt bags” or “bum bags”.
As you can see, many brands and celebrities enjoy the accessory and it’s very useful for holding your belongings when traveling.
Bike Shorts-
In the 80s, “bike shorts” were very popular for athletic wear. They call these “bike shorts” because it was known to wear this style for cycling. Not only is this style for working out, but it also goes perfectly with oversized T-shirts, hoodies, and button up shirts.
The trend in the 1980s with the aerobic athletic wear began with Jane Fonda. She had released a workout video that caused sensation for the fashion world with pieces of leotards, leg warmers, sweatbands, and spandex leggings presented above.
Due to the overall sensation of “bike shorts”, the new generation and celebrities love to rock this style with many types of designs whether if its simple or unique.
Fishnets-
Fishnets became a sensation during the 1920s, but later became adopted by the 90s (favored by women during the grunge era). Many women wore this accessory as a top cover over dresses or shirts as presented above. They also wore fishnets under skirts and shorts.
Today the new generation also picks up some style ideas from the 90s such as wearing fishnets over, or even under, shirts. The new trend today is that they’re often worn under ripped jeans, as socks, or with dainty high heels.
As you can tell, fishnets have made a comeback and is here to stay, plus they all come in different styles and colors!
Slip Dresses-
Slip dresses became widely worn during the last decade of the 20th century. As we all know, fashion makes comebacks and some don’t, but slip dresses definitely had an impact on the 90s. Celebrities wore this style for red carpets, daily wardrobe, and for fashion shows.
This trend was worn all over the U.S. Slip dresses came in many styles, some with just plain colors and some with designs of a silk or holographic look. Today many women wear these looks with shirts under or even long jackets added to the style.
Here are some ways slip dresses are styled!
