I’m going to take a big guess and say you didn’t know today was National Milk Day. That’s right, the day all lactose intolerant people hate!

National Milk Day, on January 11th, celebrates the day the first milk deliveries in glass bottles began in the United States. Alexander Campbell claimed to be the first to make the deliveries in 1878 to the New York State Senate.

The United States and Australia are at the top of the list when it comes to exporting milk. They have a big job to do, because about 6 billion people consume milk and the products we make from milk! One of the reasons is because milk provides calcium, potassium, vitamin B12, and vitamin A.

The greatest way to celebrate is obviously with a large glass of milk. However, a serving of anything made with milk would count, too! Products with milk inside would include: cereal, bread, cake, ice cream, butter, cheese, whipped cream, mac n cheese, coffee creamers, yogurt, pudding, chewing gum, chocolate, donuts and much more (you can Google the rest)!
