Don’t know what to do for Halloween? Need ideas? No worries! The Cedar Times staff writers haveyou covered. We’ll share some activity and movie ideas, so buckle up because this will be one load of spooky suggestions! Let’s start this Halloween occasion with some activities.

What Activities Should I Consider for Halloween?

  1. Corn Mazes

First on the list is corn mazes! You may be wondering, what the heck is a corn maze? It’s exactly what it sounds like: a maze where you’re surrounded by stocks of corn! Sounds boring? It won’t be once you start getting lost.

Looking for one? The closest corn maze is located at 1800 E King St, Lebanon, PA 17042. Seyfert’s Corn Maze is highly recommended! It is 14-acres wide full of corn, making it one of the biggest corn mazes around Pennsylvania! Opens at 12am-8pm and will close after Halloween! It costs money, but from its reviews the price sounds reasonable. Unfortunately, the corn maze does not take cards, so make sure to bring cash. Remember, there are other corn mazes out there to try!

Don’t like corn mazes? Try something else that you will surely have fun in, for instance, amusement parks!

2. Amusement parks, like Knoebels

That’s right, Knoebels will host its own “Hallo-riffic” event. This occasion will start at 10am-12pm; don’t wanna miss it! There will be candy, special games, and a special themed ride called Halloween Express! You can color your own bag for $7, grab a pumpkin and paint it for $5, decorate a cookie for $5, or do all of these under $15!

Don’t like amusement parks? Well then, what about parties?

3. Halloween Party!

Join the Halloween spirit with a big party! Many people go to parties to celebrate the spooky month. Party people out there; missing out is not an option! There are multiple parties hosting around Pennsylvania. You can even host your own! Hanging out? Invite a few friends over, laugh at each other’s costumes for hours, then perhaps go out for some treats!

Whats that about “perhaps go out for some treats!”?

4. Its called Trick or Treating!

Fun fact: Trick-or-treating started to get popular and was commercialized in the 1930s (in the U.S). Today in the United States, many go out for candy. This tradition is often celebrated before Halloween, yet the occasion always captures the Halloween spirit within trick-or-treaters. It’s a fun way to celebrate Halloween! Dress up, knock on a door, boom! Candy! There are some dangers when it comes to this tradition, so always be careful when trick-or-treating.

Don’t feel like going out? Your friends keep telling you that they’re too scared to even walk out of their own house? Jeez, just watch a movie!

5. Movies

A great way to celebrate Halloween is by simply watching a movie. Make sure it is scary! This is great when you have friends over or when you are with family.

Don’t know what to watch for Halloween? Here are 6 movies to watch for Halloween.

HOCUS POCUS (1993)

You’ve might of heard of this movie before, but it’s perfect to always re-watch. This is an iconic Disney Original to watch with the family and for the funny scenes presented. In the movie, a young kid named Max moves into his new town, where he — and his sister — decide to explore an abandoned house. He unknowingly releases a coven of evil witches, leading Max to stop them from becoming immortal.

Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

Created in 1993, Nightmare Before Christmas is still highly recommended during Halloween. The exposition starts off with monsters singing. The town shown is clearly under a Halloween-themed world. Each year, these monsters celebrate Halloween. The celebration involves the main character — Jack the Pumpkin King. He announces Halloween in glory as everyone cheers for him. Though this time, he wants to do something different for next Halloween.

Coraline (2009)

For those who don’t know, Coraline is based on the book by Neil Gaiman, which was made first. Of course, any novel will always be better than the movie. However, this doesn’t mean that the film version of Coraline isn’t good. In a brief summary, a child named Coraline Jones enters an alternative world of her own.

Scary Movies to Tell in the Dark (2019)

Why is this recommended? This movie seems similar to most horror movies, but it isn’t. The story in short is about teenagers angering a spirit, which then causes events that give you pure anxiety. Fun!

Here are some short mentions of other movies:

GhostBusters (1984)

This movie is one of the most iconic ghost stories. Ghostbusters is a supernatural comedy movie, involving a group of parapsychology fighting against ghosts. With their high-tech, they’re hired to go against supernatural beings in exchange for money.

A Quiet Place (2018)

This movie is a unique one! A family are in a survival situation; making as little noise as possible. You think a movie with little noise won’t put you on edge? Wrong!

Cedar Times staff writers hoped you found this helpful. We wish you a Happy Halloween!
