In the wake of the Queen’s death, some Cedars are wondering if they have a stronger connection with the Queen. As it turns out, a chef from Lancaster County had a unique connection with the royal family.

This chef from Lancaster County is named Dan Person, and he served two British visitors a Pennsylvania Dutch ham and bean soup from his Root’s Market stand. Surprisingly, these visitors were two royal chefs, Deborah and Kevin Steward, who had just come to Pennsylvania to visit Deborah’s aunt, Annie. They were so impressed by the chef’s recipe that Kevin stood up and gave Dan his card with the royal seal on it. The hearty soup ended up being added to Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham Estate menu. Thanks to Dan’s success, he plans to branch out in the future. He may open a brick and mortar restaurant or a food truck in the future.
