The track and baseball field were demolished for the new middle school to sit in their place. What does this mean for the Track & Field and Baseball Teams?

Why the New Middle School is Being Built

Our school district is growing fast, and the original middle school is overcrowded. The new school is being built for more space in the classrooms for students to be able to have more space and learn in a better environment. The plan is for 5th and 6th graders to be taught in the original middle school, while 7th and 8th graders will be taught in the new building. 6th graders will be at the new middle school until the original is renovated. The new middle school is currently expected to be ready for the 2024–2025 school year.

What This Means For School Sports

Many of our school’s sports teams used the areas that have now been demolished because of the new middle school. This includes track & field, baseball, football, and more.

After hearing from Coach Pearson, we know there will be a track season and an all away meet schedule this year. Practice plans are still being figured out, and a final decision has not been made yet. As for practice purposes, the cinder track at the middle school seems to be a possible option.

As for baseball, no source has been reached, but some of the same modifications might be put in place.

Physical Education classes have also been affected by the removal of the track. One of the assessments students usually have to complete in this class is the Mile Run. Usually, the Mile is completed on the track, but this year students cannot complete it.
