The first days of high school can seem overwhelming, but it’s probably simpler than you think. Here’s a few tips that will hopefully help you during your freshman year!
The Hallways
- The traffic in the halls can be ridiculous. This can be helped by staying to the right and not standing in the middle of the hallway.
- Utilize the stairwells in the W building. This is a shortcut to the L building. Obviously, this works vice versa.
Joining Clubs
- Think of what clubs you’re interested in before you have to finalize your decision. You’ll be given time to check out some clubs before you sign up, to help you decide whether or not you want to join.
- Joining a club is not only a way to get credits, but a way to make friends. Having similar interests as someone can make it easier to become friends, which can be especially helpful if you’re new to the school district!
- Check out the list of clubs here and participate in Club Day this Friday, September 9th.
Check Your Grades Frequently
- Your grade can drop very quickly if you forget to turn in an assignment, so you should make sure to check your grades on PowerSchool every now and then. Teachers also sometimes make mistakes, and may give you the wrong grade. If you think you deserve a different grade than you received, politely tell them or send them a Schoology message.
- Keeping a list of your work may come in handy, since it can be hard to remember all of your assignments for each class. You can easily make a list in the notes app on your school iPad.
- Catch up on work during seminar. Seminar is like a study hall. You have forty minutes, so use your time wisely!
